Holy Shroud of TURIN Plus Rome, Florence, Assisi, Loreto,Ravenna,Tuscany, Padua, and Venice, 12 DAYSApril 18 –April 29 or May 02 to May 13, 2010
DAY 1 - DEPART U.S.A.Depart this evening on an overnight flight to RomeDAY 2 - ROMEWelcome to Italy. You arrive in the Eternal City and are greeted by your tour escort. On the way to the hotel we stop at St. Paul Outside the Walls, where we celebrate Mass. This Basilica one of the most important to Christians is the burial place of St. Paul, as officially proclaimed by the Holy See in July of 2009 After checking into the hotel, you are free to relax and become acclimated to a new time zone. Tonight we have a welcome dinner with wine in a local restaurant. Overnight Rome.(B.D.)DAY 3 - ROMEYou are introduced to some of the most fascinating sights, in the Ancient Rome tour. Enter the Coliseum, view the Roman Forum, Piazza Venezia, Piazza Barberini with the famed Trition, Via Veneto and Aurelian Walls, throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain and when the tour is finished collapse at the Spanish Steps with a refreshing gelato as you watch the world go by. Rest of the day is at leisure to shop or visit the Vatican Museum. Overnight Rome. (B)DAY 4 – ROME- PAPAL AUDIENCEWe start the day with the Papal Audience followed by Christian Rome tour , including the Basilicas of Sts. Peter, Mary Major and John Lateran, the Holy Stairs and Holy Cross in Jerusalem, as well as the Bone Church. Overnight Rome. (B.D.)DAY 5 - ROME-FLORENCELeave Rome after breakfast for a morning drive to Florence. In the afternoon explore the city considered by many to be the cultural heart of Italy. You visit some of the important sites of Florence, including the Duomo, the Baptistery designed by Giotto, and Santa Croce, the church where Dante, Michelangelo and Leonardo de Vinci are buried. Overnight Florence. (B.D.)DAY 6 - TUSCANY EXPLORERWe have a day at leisure with an opportunity to visit Assisi, home of St. Francis and St. Clare, San Gimignano and Siena, or Pisa and Lucca. You may wish to stay in Florence for the day to visit the Academia, the Uffizi Gallery or the famous Medici Chapels.Overnight Florence. (B.) DAY 7- FLORENCE-ASSISIDepart for the hilltop home of St. Francis and St. Clare, the city of birds and silence. Here we tour the Basilicas of St. Francis and St. Clare, San Damiano and St. Mary of the Angels. Overnight Assisi. (B.D.)DAY 8 - ASSISI- LORETO-RAVENNAWe depart Assisi for Loreto to see the Holy House of Nazareth, and then on to Ravenna to see the magnificent Byzantine mosaics at the Basilica of St. Apollinaris, the Church iof St. Vitale and the Mausoleeo de Galla Placidia. Overnight in Ravenna at a seaside resort. (B.D.)DAY 9- RAVENNA-PADUA-VENICEDepart for Padua to see the Basilica of St. Anthony with bronze works by Donatello and Capella degli Scrovegni with Giotto masterpieces. In the afternoon settle into your hotel, near Venice, also known as the Queen of the Adriatic. You may choose to visit Venice tonight to explore the city on your own. Overnight Venice area. (B.D.)DAY 10 - VENICEEnjoy a morning tour of Venice, including visits of St. Mark’s Cathedral and Square, the Doge’s Palace, and the Bridge of Sights. Afternoon departure for Turin. Overnight Turin. (B.)DAY 11 - TURIN- HOLY SHROUD EXHIBITThis morning we have a city tour of Turin and view the Shroud of Turin and other exhibits associated with what many believe is the cloth that Jesus Christ was buried in. This cloth is on exhibit every 20 years, and is being shown only for a short time in 2010 due to a special Papal Decree. Overnight Turin. (B.D.)DAY 12- RETURN TO USA.Following breakfast, depart for the airport and your return flight to the USA. (B)YOUR TOUR INCLUDES:
