Greece and a Cruise to Mykonos, Rhodes, Ephesus and Patmos

DAY 1: USA- ATHENS

Depart New York on an overnight flight to Athens. Connecting flights can be secured from most major US airports.


DAY 2: ATHENS

Welcome to Greece. You are greeted at the brand new super modern airport by your tour escort and transported to your hotel, in the center of Athens. Afternoon is yours to become acclimated to a new time zone. Welcome dinner tonight is in the Plaka section, with its narrow winding streets, numerous shops and excellent restaurants. DAY 3: ATHENS

We embark on a half a day tour of Athens, which features centuries of history, culture and intrigue. We see the Temple of Zeus, Hadrian's Arch, the Acropolis (including the famous Parthenon and Temple of Athena), the Acropolis Museum, and the Presidential Palace. The afternoon is free for shopping, relaxation, or exploring on your own. Overnight Athens. (B.)


DAY 4: DELPHI

Today we travel inland to ancient Delphi. We see the towns of Levadia and Arachove (famous for its bright multicolored carpets), before arriving at sanctuary. We stroll along the ancient sacred way to the Temple of Apollo and then to the Museum where we can see, among many other archaeological treasures, the unique bronze statue of the Charioteer! Next, we will visit the Athenian Treasury and Castalia Springs. On our way back to Athens, we stop to see how the famous Greek Feta and other cheeses are made, and to have a sampling of the many varieties. Overnight Athens. (B. D.)


DAY 5: MYKONOS

Our cruise starts today, and the first stop is the picture perfect jet-setting island of Mykonos. We'll arrive in Mykonos for sightseeing, including a visit for picture taking to the famous windmills of Mykonos. Overnight cruise. (B. D.)


DAY 6: RHODES

Today we visit the island of Rhodes with its stunning array of Byzantine, Roman, Greek, and Crusader architecture. Roam the walled medieval town, or take an optional tour to climb the Acropolis in beautiful Lindos, and enjoy the beaches and olive groves. Overnight Cruise. (B.L.D.)


DAY 7: PATMOS & KUSADASI

We begin the day with a visit to the island of Patmos, famous for the Cave of Revelation and the Monastery of St. John. Then we visit Kusadasi, the busy and popular Turkish resort which offers miles of sandy beaches and bazaars brimming with Turkish goods. This is your opportunity to try out your bargaining skills. Take an optional excursion to the showplace of Aegean archaeology, Ephesus and one of the grandest ancient sites in the world. (B.L.D.)


DAY 8: ATHENS-CORINTH

We disembark in Piraeus this morning, and enjoy a full day tour of the Ancient Peloponese visiting Corinth of St. Paul, Mycenae, and Epidaurus. Tonight we have a farewell dinner with Greek music, dancing, good food and excellent wine. Overnight Athens. (B.)


DAY 9: RETURN TO USA

This morning you are transferred to the airport and flight home. (B.)
