DAY 1: DEPART USABoard an overnight flight from your hometown to Rome.
DAY 2: ROME
Welcome to the Eternal city where you are greeted by
your English speaking tour director and
transferred to the city. Our tour starts with a visit to one of the majestic
Cathedrals of Rome, St. Paul Outside the Walls. You are then settled into the
hotel where the tour director has an orientation session explaining the
customs, the transportation system, the exchange rates and more. Overnight Rome. (D.)
DAY 3: ROME - ANCIENT ROME
Today we explore the Colosseum, considered the symbol
of Rome's eternity, and the ruins and excavations of the
Roman Forum, featuring the remains of magnificent temples, basilicas and
triumphal arches, which once formed the heart of the Empire. Our tour concludes
with a brief visit to the Mamertine Prison, where St. Peter and St. Paul were imprisoned , then on to Trajan's Column and
Markets and the grandiose Vittorio Emmanuelle Monument, also called the Wedding Cake. We then walk over to the Pantheon,
one of the grandest and the best-preserved Roman monuments, which today houses
the tombs of Raphael, Vittorio Emmanuelle II, and Queen Margherita and Piazza
Navona, which was built on the foundations of Domitian's Circus. This
magnificent square, designed in the 17th century by Bernini, is full of life
and is highlighted by one of Rome's most spectacular fountains, the fountain of the Four
Rivers. After dinner we walk over to the Spanish
Steps, the"the sitting room" of the city. The day concludes with the spectacular Trevi Fountain, where it is
traditional to toss a coin into the fountain to ensure a return to the Eternal City. Overnight Rome. (B.D.)
DAY 4: ROME
Today we explore the Vatican,
the world's smallest independent nation, and home of St. Peter’s Basilica. We
visit the Vatican Museums,
on a guided tour, with head phones we see the map rooms, the tapestry rooms,
and the magnificent Raphael Rooms,
as well as the spectacular Sistine
Chapel, highlighted by Michelangelo's ceiling and Last Judgment.
We continue with a visit to St. Peter's
Basilica, to see the The Pieta by Michelangelo, the tomb of
St. Peter and Bernini's magnificent Baldacchino. We then drive outside of Rome
to see the Catacombs and the underground cells and churches used by the early

DAY 5: FLORENCE
We start early today as we head out
on a full day excursion to Florence,
one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, the Renaissance
city. We start our sightseeing at Piazza del Duomo, where we tour the Duomo and
see the Ghiberti’s famous Bronze Doors, called by Michelangelo “Doors of
Paradise”. The nearby Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore is the second largest
in Italy and
has a central dome larger than St. Peter’s in Rome.
We’ll see the Church of Santa
Maria Novella and the Church
of Santa Croce. We walk the Piazza
della Signoria, an outdoor sculpture museum, and then to the Accademia, to see Michelangelo’s
"David". After a stop for lunch we see the Ponte Vecchio bridge and
the area lined with shops of jewelers, goldsmiths and other craftsmen. Near to
Ponte Vecchio is the Loggia del Mercata Nuovo (new market) where we have time
for a little souvenir shopping. High on a hill above the Pitti
Palace is Piazza Michelangelo with
breathtaking views of the city, where we stop for picture taking. Overnight Rome.

DAY 6 / 7: ROME
Two days at leisure for optional tours to Tivoli
Gardens and Hadrian’s Villa, or a
full day visit to Naples,
Pompeii and Sorrento
or to Assisi, home of St, Francis
and St. Clare. Or you may wish to stay in Rome
and explore the city through an your own education program. Overnight Rome.

DAY 8: DEPART ROME FOR USA
This morning you are transferred to the airport and flight home. (B.)
