DAY 1: DEPART U.S.A.

You'll leave this evening on an overnight flight to Germany.


DAY 2: BERLIN

Today you arrive in Berlin. You are met by your tour escort and transferred to the hotel. Afternoon sightseeing tour includes Bradenburger Gate, Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, Charlottenburg Palace and Museums along the Wall, Schonenberg Town Hall, the Olympic Stadium and much more. DAY 3: WITTENBERG - TORGAU - LEIPZIG

Morning drive to the heart of Lutherland at Wittenberg, where Luther first published his German translation of the New Testament. Visit the Augustine Monastery where the great theologian taught and lived, Luther Hall, the greatest museum of Reformation History where you will see Martin Luther artifacts and some of his works. Wittenberg was Luther's home for 30 years. Besides Luther's home we see Melonchton House and the town church with the Lucas Cranach Alter. Visit the All Saints Castle Church on whose door Luther hung his 96 theses and where Luther and Melanchton are buried. After lunch in the colorful city market place, take a short drive to Torgau, a political center of the Reformation, and the location of the first Presbyterian Church consecrated by Luther in 1544. Here the Torgau Articles were drawn up, an essential part of the Augsburg Confession. Luther's wife, Katharina Von Bora, died and is buried here at the Pastor Church. Travel on to Leipzig, where Luther and eight other Wittenberg professors debated with supporters of the Papal Authority in 1519, which marked a crucial point in the development of the Reformation. DAY 4: LEIPZIG - EISLEBEN - MANSFELD - LEIPZIG

Our morning sightseeing in Leipzig includes St. Thomas Church, where composer Johann Sebastian Bach worked, St. Nicholas Church, the Luther House, and Luther Hall. This afternoon visit Eisleben, where Luther was born in 1483, baptized, preached his last sermon and died over 62 years later. Continue to Mansfeld where he spent his childhood. Overnight in Leipzig. DAY 5: DRESDEN

We have a full day excursion to Dresden, the magnificent city almost destroyed by allied bombing in WWII and almost rebuilt and restores since then. We tour the city and its castles and palaces. Return to Leipzig for overnight. (B.)

DAY 6: LEIPZIG-ERFURT

This morning we depart for Erfurt, town referred to by Luther as the new Bethlehem. Luther attended the University here and entered law school after graduation, although after two months of study he became a monk at age 22. Our tour here includes the Augustinian Monastery, Luther Memorial, the Franciscan Church, and St. Mary’s Cathedral, where Luther was ordained as a priest and said his first mass.  Overnight in Erfurt. DAY 7: EISENACH- RUDESHEIM

This morning we will head to Eisenach. In 1521, while fleeing from the wrath of the Pope, Luther took refuge in the Wartburg Castle Germany. We will then tour the Luther House Museum with its fascinating displays about the time and culture of Luther. Close by is the Bach House Museum, which is a must-see. We'll hear period musical instruments played by the curator and hear more about the fascinating Christian musician, J.S. Bach. If time permits, we’ll tour the medieval St George's (Georgenkirche) Church connected with both Martin Luther and Johann Sebastian Bach. Martin Luther was a choir boy here and then preached in 1521 on his journey to and from the imperial parliament in Worms. On the north wall is a large painting commissioned to commemorate the century of the Reformation, depicting Luther and Huss, as well as the Augsburg Confession. This is the place where Bach was baptized in 1685. Several members of the Bach family were organists at this church.

We depart for the alluring Rhine River, and to check into our comfortable hotel in Rudesheim for two nights. This evening we are free to sample cuisine at numerous excellent restaurants. Some may like to tour the still-functioning Benedictine Abbey of St. Hildegard, perched high above town in the vineyards, or take a cable car ride over the vineyards to the Count Von Bismark Memorial, and enjoy a picnic dinner with the incredible view of the mighty Rhine and the castles. DAY 8 : RHINE CRUISE- MAINZ- WORMS

What better way to start the day than with a Rhine Rhine River valley. Next we will go to Mainz where we'll focus on the Bible printing history and the contribution of Johann Gutenberg, who developed moveable type. View original copies of the Bible in the Gutenberg Museum, then visit  Mainz Cathedral, dating back to 975. In  Worms  we  have a brief local walking tour to see the site of the Worms Debates (Diet of Worms), now a park, with a plaque commemorating the Diet of Worms, the Reformation Monument, St. Peters, and the Church of the Holy Trinity. Our guide will also share about another Reformer, William Tyndale, who finished his printing of the English Bible in Worms, escaping persecution in England. In 1525 his New Testament was printed and smuggled back into England. We'll return to Rudesheim for a second overnight. (B.D.)

 

DAY 09 HEIDELGERG- ROTHENGURG

We have a visit of the university town on the Neckar River, including the picturesque old town and the famoust Stone Bridge over the Neckar River. Tour heidelberg Castle which boasts the world's largest wine barrel, a fascinating history and a stunning view. here we'll hear about the Heidelberg Confession, written in 1562 by 28 year old professor Zacharisa Urninus, and a 26 year old precher named Caspar Olevianus. This is o ne of the most important Calvinistic statements of faith and our guide tells us why. Continue to Rothenbrug ob der Tauber one of the most picturesque and well-reserved of the towns, along the famous "Romantic Roads" Its one of Germany's very best walled medieval cities, most of the buildings were built by 1,400. This town is particularly noted for the Christmas shop and museum which are open year round. We have time at leisure to stroll and explore the views atop the city rampaarts. Incredible shopping opportunities await us at every storefront. Overnight Rotherburg. (B.D.)

DAY 10: ROMANTIC ROAD- AUGSBURG- WIESKIRCHE- OBERAMMERGAU

This morning we will travel the fabled “Romantic Road”. This is Germany's most famous and popular tourist route, displaying a rich and varied cultural landscape through the Franconian wine country to Bavaria. We’ll pass small historic villages full of their original charm, on our way to Augsburg, another Germany Reformation city. We’ll learn from our expert guide about the Augsburg Confession, the 1555 Peace of Augsburg, while we tour St. Anne’s Church. After a walking tour of key sites, depart for  Bavaria, and visit  the Wieskirche, a UNESCO World Heritage site with incredible Rococo art. Overnight Oberammergau. (B.D.)

 

DAY 11: OBERAMmERGAU - THE PASSION PLAY

This morning you have time to explore the village, shop and visit Oberammergau Museum. In the afternoon we enjoy the highlight of  this trip, and for many an experience of a lifetime, today’s Passion Play. Started 367 years ago, it is still an authentic portrayal depicting the last week of the life of Christ. The play takes place at an outdoor stage, and the actors are people from the village who have prepared for their roles for many years. The play takes place from 2:30PM to 10:30PM, with a two hour dinner break. Overnight Oberammergau. (B.L.D.)

DAY  12: MUNICH- City tour

Continue to Munich for a sightseeing tour, including the most famous sights such as the Marienplatz, the Opera, the Olympic Park, the Frauenkirche, and the Town Hall. Tonight we have a farewell dinner in a typical German restaurant with music, wine or beer and traditional food. Overnight mUNICH.  (B.D.)

Number of single rooms in Oberammergau are limited.

Tour leaders are in double rooms and pay for taxes.

Prices are guaranteed including the air and can only change due to fuel surcharges or currency fluctuation.

Rates are based on the exchange rate of 1.30 USD to Euro and subject to change up until time of final payment based on the exchange rate in place at the time.

Taxes and fuel surcharges are subject to change based on those in effect at time of ticketing (45 day before departure).

Price guarantee option: Paying in full will guarantee the price. At the time the passenger is ready to pay in full current exchange rate and tax/fuel surcharge will be calculated and the price will be frozen.
 

TERMS and CONDITIONS


Due to the unique nature of this once-in-a-lifetime event, the following terms and conditions apply. If they are not adhered we cannot guarantee service or the tickets.

FIRST DEPOSIT:  A $ 1000.00 deposit per person is required  90 days from confirmation letter of the program reserved. Space will not be held without a deposit. No deposit extension will be available. Space will be reduced at the time of deposit, and any additional space requirements will be based on availability, first come, first serve basis.

$ 1000.00 of the deposit is non-refundable as the money we receive is immediately sent to the Oberammergau Passion Play committee for tickets which we reserved (We urge everyone to purchase trip cancellation insurance). Name changes can be made until 120 days before departure with a service fee of $ 150.00 per person for each name change.

SECOND DEPOSIT: An additional $ 1000.00 is due one year before departure.

FINAL PAYMENT: Is due 120 days before departure, along with a the rooming list and passport copies  picture page. Within 120 days all payments are non-refundable, name changes are not permitted.
